FOUR (4) YEAR COURSE

Shri Surya Narayan Mandir offers a unique 4 year program for your child. This course focuses on the basics of Hinduism and Hindu culture. The program is organized in such a way as to gradually advance the level of learning over the 4 years from simple to the advanced concepts of our Dharma.

Our Spiritual Leader Pt. Ram Hardowar, is the founder, director and coordinator of the program. There are four (4) trained teachers for each year of the program. See below for additional information on the teachers of the program. The teachers receive no monetary reward from the Mandir for these services, all are offered on a voluntary basis.

An example of one of the most confused and misunderstood concept of GOD.

Question: How many Gods are there in Hinduism?

Answer: As Hindus, We do not believe that there are many Gods.
We do not believe that there is one God.
We believe that there is only God.

The concept that everything is GOD has to be taught. To unfold this knowledge, we are following the ancient system of teaching handed down to us from the Upanishads and other Shastras (Texts of Hinduism).

THIS COURSE IS A MUST FOR EVERY HINDU CHILD

WHERE:   Shri Surya Narayan Mandir. – 92-17 172 St Jamaica NY 11433
WHEN:    Fridays 7:00 pm to 8:30 pm.
AGE:        Any child above 5 years.
FEES:        In keeping with the traditional Gurukulam System there are no fees for the Program. However, parents are encouraged to make a minimum voluntary donation of $ 70 per family per semester to help defray the cost such as lighting, heating, class materials, etc, incurred while utilizing the Mandir Facilities.  

SEMESTERS: The course is taught in 3 - thirteen week semesters every year. They have the summers off but the youths then participate in our annual youth camp in July.
